These were in a stand-alone gallery during the main exhibition – DEMOCRACY IN BRIDPORT 2015. To Robert, portraits are another way of using documentarist skills. These pictures and their texts are a more detailed and individual way to reveal a community’s wants and needs, attitudes, likes and dislikes. He said, “photographing in available light with simple equipment allows the sitter and I to be more relaxed and open with each other. Their faces change as they relax and allow the lens to see more. Their features, lines, varied tones and colours become a roadmap of their lives.”
