The Theatre of David Glass

The Theatre of David Glass

Robert has for many years appreciated, learned from and worked with David Glass on films, texts and photography across the last 30 years. This long established relationship has allowed each of them to support the other in various projects. Robert is presently an associate of the David Glass Ensemble.

David Glass wrote, “Robert Golden is a rare Photographer and Film Maker. He has crossed over from socially driven photojournalism in the 1960’s and 70’s into transforming our ideas of what table top food photography and film advertising could be in that golden age of experimentation during the 1980’s. In the 90’s he moved into off-beat, award winning feature film making and into two stunning series on food and culture around the world.

He has lent his extraordinary eye to theatre documentation for my own work over nearly thirty years and lately has been teaching visual storytelling across many digital media to young people in several counties for whom he has a passion, as they reflect his own journey in which he struggled to find his voice in his native Detroit.

Robert is a unique and brilliant Artist and Social commentator and as an Activist and a hugely generous human being, affects everyone he meets. He has the rarity of continued creative curiosity, carrying the history of the late 20th and early 21st century in everything he is and has made.”
